      I finished university just before I turned 22 (4 years after A levels). You may not think this, but that’s still pretty young!

      If you do an apprenticeship (which can still get you a job as a mechanical engineer, but in my opinion is not as good a route) then you could probably get into a drawing office designing things by 24 I reckon…

      I did a degree in Electrical Engineering and a Masters in Electrical Power Systems. You do not need a masters degree to work as an engineer but you do need one to become a Chartered Engineer.

      The two paths to working as a Building Services Consultant is either to do a degree in a relevant subject before applying for a job or to have trained as an electrician or worked in maintenance for a time first. A lot of employers offer trainees a chance to work and study for a degree at the same time so you would work for 4 days a week and go to university for 1 day over several years to complete your degree.
