• Question: how will the new ATLAS Detector on the LHC benefit us?

      The LHC experiments will directly affect us by giving us a better understanding of the universe. Since the beginning of mankind, people have been trying to answer three questions:

      1) What are we made of?
      2) Where did we come from?
      3) Where are we going?

      We are helping the world by trying to answer some of these questions. so it is in a way feeding our curiosity.

      It is also helping us indirectly by providing and pushing technologies. To answer these questions you would have to develop very advanced technologies and these technologies would in turn be used by the industry to create very useful instruments like medical imaging devices for example.
