• Question: Have you modified existing products to perform in specific environments?

      I often have to make sure products can work in a radioactive environment. Sometimes this means designing a simple box to cover the product, sometimes encoders (devices that can measure position or rotation) have to be changed.

      We don’t actually modify products but a lot of my job is finding the right product for the right place. You can’t use the same sort of smoke detector you use in your house in a sports hall or a factory so it’s important to know how all the different products work so your design is totally right.
