• Question: Would you say that computers play a key role in engineering?

      Yes computers are almost essential. From Computer Aided Design (CAD) to simulating particle beams I couldn’t work without them.

      I use a computer every day, writing reports, doing calculations and simulations, drawing up plans using CAD, and researching new technology or British Standards. It would all be pretty hard without a computer!

      Yes, they are completely fundamental – the older people in my office talk about the days when they had drawing boards and had to use big long textbooks to do certain calculations… It doesn’t sound fun…
